M.C. Awbrey homesteaded 165 acres of what is now the community of Deschutes River Ranch around 1885. He apparently recognized the verdant landscape, rich soil, abundant water and sunny Tumalo climate, and must have fallen in love with the beauty of the snow capped Cascade mountains and clear waters of the Deschutes River. Today, the ranch is an approximately 485 acre residential community with nearly two miles of the Deschutes River running through it. The community enjoys private river and trail access. The outdoor Pavilion is a gathering space with its large fireplace and corrals on a flat, grassy area right next to a swimming hole on the river. Wildlife is abundant and a conservation easement protects the open space into perpetuity. Deschutes River Ranch is uniquely ideal for horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking and swimming and is located less than 10 miles north of Downtown Bend in beautiful Central Oregon.
Professional experience includes having owned and managed Melrose Realty, a successful boutique real estate brokerage on Bend's Westside and serving the Central Oregon Association of Realtors in a variety of positions including Government Affairs Chair, State Director and Association President.
